Data Studio is a free dashboard creation tool from Google. It lets you easily build beautiful visualizations using data from various sources such as Google Sheets or BigQuery. The objective is to provide a usual way to visualize data without writing code.
You can use Google Sheets to store data and then import them into Data Studio. Once imported, you can start building charts and graphs. If you need to add interactivity to your charts, you can also embed widgets directly within your chart.
How to connect to Google Sheets
Google Sheets is one of the most popular tools used in the world today. From creating budgets to organizing data, it’s a great way to organize information. However, there may be times you need to access a spreadsheet outside of Google Sheets. For example, maybe you want to pull some data into Excel or another tool. Or perhaps you want to use the information in a different format. Whatever the case may be, connecting to a Google Sheet is easy. Here’s how.
1. Open up the spreadsheet you want to connect to.
2. Select either “My Spreadsheet” or “Spreadsheet I Shared With Me,” depending on whether you want to connect to your spreadsheet or someone else’s.
3. This ID number is located at the end of the URL.
4. Hit OK and wait while the connection process takes place. Once complete, you can close out the sheet and open it again.
5. Now, you can copy and paste values from the original spreadsheet into the new one.
6. Finally, you can save the file locally or send it to someone else.
Field editing in reports
Report editors can now edit fields at the chart level. This feature lets them customize their charts without having to re-create them. In addition, use the Field Editing in Reports Data View to see how fields are set up in each chart.

Use a separate worksheet for Data Studio
Spreadsheet files are great for organizing and analyzing data. But if you want to use those spreadsheets in Data Studio, you’ll need to do some extra steps.
A spreadsheet file is just like a table in Data Studio. You can add columns, rows, and cells to represent different pieces of information. When you import a spreadsheet into Data Studio, it creates one big table with many rows and columns. To make things easier to understand, we recommend creating a separate worksheet for each piece of data. This way, you can see how each column relates to the others.
Here’s what happens when you import a spreadsheet directly into Data Studio:
1. Select “Import Data” from the menu bar.
2. Click “Choose File.”
3. Browse the location where you saved the .csv file.
4. Choose the name of the spreadsheet file.
Spreadsheet files are often used to store data in a structured way. A good spreadsheet file contains only one table per worksheet. You can use Excel tables to organize information, such as contacts, tasks, or project plans.
A sound spreadsheet file has a simple table structure. For example, you should avoid having multiple sheets with rows and columns mixed up. In addition, don’t add formulas to cells unless it’s necessary. Otherwise, you’ll end up with errors.
Don’t try to import any types of files into your sheet. If you do, you might get error messages. Instead, make sure that the file you’re importing is a plain text file with only text values.
Make sure all columns contain only text values. They shouldn’t have numbers or dates. Also, don’t insert images or pictures into your spreadsheet. These things can cause problems.
Google Sheet date formats include “mm/dd/yy”, “m/d/y”, “mmm d yy”, “MMM dd, yyyy”, and “MMM DD, YYYY”. These are just some examples. You’ll find many others here.
The best way to learn about different date formats is to test them out. For example, you could try entering dates into a cell like this: TEXT(A1, “mmmm”)
You might notice several ways to enter dates in Google Sheets. There are even more than 20. But the most significant thing to remind you is that you don’t always need to type the full month name. If you’re trying to enter a date in February, you could write 2. Or if you know the date is October, you could note 10.
A long table is excellent for displaying large amounts of information. A comprehensive table is best for displaying small amounts of data. However, both types of tables require some planning. To show a lot of data, you’ll need to consider how much space each column takes up. You might also need to consider whether you want to include the totals row in the data source.
